Our Covid-19 secure plan
The Haytor Hotel will be open for business from May 17th 2021
As you may have heard, Boris Johnson has announced that hotels in England may open from17th May 2021. Therefore, it gives us great pleasure to announce that we will reopen the Haytor Hotel from this date. Whilst this is exciting news, we want to reassure you that our guest’s and staff’s safety is our priority.
Bookings
As always, the best rates are available if you book directly through us.
After making your booking if your circumstances change, you or one of your party or household feel unwell, we will of course be happy for you to cancel the booking. If cancellation occurs up to 48 hours before arrival, we will be happy for you to move your booking to a new date this year or next at no extra charge.
Torquay is going to be very busy this summer so we highly recommend that after making your booking, you plan which restaurants you would like to visit and book these in advance to avoid disappointment as they will be running on reduced capacity to allow for social distancing. We are happy to provide a list of restaurants in The Bay
Prior to Check-in
48 hours prior to check-in, we will contact you by telephone or email to explain our check-in process and make you aware of our covid-19 secure plan.
We will ask you your approximate arrival time, this is to ensure we only ever have one party checking in at one time. We may ask you to move your check-in time slightly or wait in your car until previous guests have been shown to their room. We can email you our registration form or we are happy to take these details over the phone to ensure we have a paperless check-in. We will also discuss payment options with you. Currently we take payments on departure using our card machine, to reduce the risk, we will ask that you make payment via bank transfer before or during your stay or we can take payment over the phone.

Feeling unwell during stay
The below statement is government guidelines which we ask our guests to read.
“If a guest is displaying signs of the Covid-19 virus while staying in overnight accommodation for a permitted reason, they should inform the accommodation provider, immediately self-isolate where they are to minimise any risk of transmission, and request a test. If they are confirmed to have Covid-19, they should return home if they reasonably can. They should use private transport but only drive themselves if they can do so safely. If a guest cannot reasonably return home (for example because they are not well enough to travel or do not have the means to arrange transport), their circumstances should be discussed with an appropriate health care professional and, if necessary, the local authority. Guests should follow government guidance on dealing with possible or confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. Once the guest has returned to their main residence, they should continue to follow the government guidance on self-isolation, household isolation and social distancing. If the guest cannot return home, the guest will be expected to pay all costs.”
Check-out/Payment
We have a box on our bar, before leaving, please place your key in the box so that we can sanitise.
Restaurants
Although many of the local restaurants have reopened on 17th May, others will only be open for take-away service. Our dining room will be available for you to consume take-away food. If you require this, please let us know and we will provide crockery and cutlery. This is a complimentary service.
